Using wallpaper to create a focal point in a room or to add a feature has to be the best way to decorate on a budget. I love these wallpaper from Mini Moderns.

The colours and pattern of each wallpaper is so retro they would look great in any room.

This particular print you can colour in with crayon or felt tip marker.

I can think of many a room where this would work.

Wall & Keogh Organic Tea House

So, we have just finished working on this fantastic tea house, Wall & Keogh in Portobello. As you walk in the door it feels like you are walking into an adult sweet shop, with its wonderful selection of organic teas displayed in hand made glass jars.

The interior is very eclectic with a mix of influences. We wanted to create something totally different, a cool space to chill with your friends and family.

There is also a really cool outdoor space. The seating is made from old cast iron beds which adds a nostalgic note to the design.

The Darker Side of Light

Alex Randall is a fantastic bespoke lighting designer from the UK. Her edgy designs have gotten her recognition all over the world including New York design week.

These industrial chandaliers were made from old bellows which were rescued from an old barn in Co. Devon. Although they have a very rough edge, there is an element of beauty here too.

Another side to Alex's unusual style is her taxidermy lighting (yes this is a real duck). Although this may not be to everyones taste I think they are fantastic. "Rats, ravens and crows play into taxidermy's inate Gothicism. Yet once creatives get their hands on a furry or feathery body, the results can be playful rather than dark and depressing. Here the aristocratic trophy tradition is twisted into something anti-establishment."

I love this quirky edition to Alex's collection.

Tent London 2010

Myself and Joanne headed to London last weekend for the day to have a look around the London Tent 2010 The venue was The old Truman Brewery Brick Lane. It was a great opportunity to see up and coming designers and new companies all under the one roof.

Zoe Murphy was a big hit with us, we really love her hand painted furniture. We didn't get a chance to chat to her as anytime we tried there was always someone else there.

There was also a great collection of furniture from the total bizarre to these tables for Sessio. They are made from a lite metal which are powder coated with clip on motif.

This plastic folding chair can be used outdoors and also be stored flat, comes in great colours with a cushion pad as extra. They are also strong enough to stand on.

And now for the weird bit, this bespoke lamp by Alex Randall, that her in the background of the pic. These rat are real rats texidermy to form this lamp. Alex is making a name for herself in the states. Got a mention in New York design week this year.

After spending a good three hours at the show we just had time to get around to Islington to have a look in Abigail Ahern showroom. We both lover her style and the dark colours she uses in her interior. The showroom wasn't a big a we hoped but still worth a visit.

Brocante Market

We had our first outing at the Brocante market on Sunday 19th. It's held in the same building as the food co-op on New Market Square Dublin 8 on the 3rd Sunday of the month.

Along with ourselves there are other great companies such as Table lighting and chair,Tire Alainn and Retorummage.

Retorummage has cool framed front covers of the Dandy and Bino these appeal to people from the same vintage as myself. Check out the nest of table in the foreground.

Jennifer at Tire Alainn makes great cushion and other soft furniturishing. She was afraid to get into the photo.

This is how our stand looked on the day. We got a great response to out furniture.

We're off to London design week so watch this space for new idea's and pics.

Our Upcycles

Here is a selection of our upcycled and revamped furniture. Each piece has been sourced locally and lovingly restored by Anthony and Joanne.

These simple tables have been transformed into something unique using vivid colours and interesting vinyls. We think that these would be a great addition to any interior if you are looking for something quirky.

This Tall Boy is circa 1950 and was really in need of some attention when we found it. It was stripped back and a new finish was applied, finishing it off with this streetscape vinyl.

This early 20th century sideboard was rescued from a skip in Navan by Anthony. He just knew that it had so much potential when he saw it. The colours of the Red/Blue Chair by Gerrit Rietveld inspired our colour scheme for this piece.

All our pieces will be for sale at this Sunday's Brocante Market 12th September 11 - 5, and by the way the clock works!

Cafe Foam

I came across this amazing cafe in Stockholm and just had to share it with you. Designed by Note Design Studio, the inspiration for this cafe was bullfighting, believe it or not!

Fascinated by the bull and the bullfighters mutual movements and the directions in the battle. This struggle along with the materials and colours at the stadium were the inspiration when designing Cafe Foam.

Mixing Spanish temperament with Scandinavian coolness certainly worked for this fantastic design studio, and is a must see for anyone visiting Stockholm.
